Arsenal In Capital One Cup Shocker

111111123442423423This was a bit of a shocker for those who had money on Arsenal as not many were giving Bradford much of a chance in this one. I wasn’t trading this one myself but even my own eyebrows were raised slightly when the score came through.

Arsenal were 1.40 favourites during the day but after Wenger announced a near full strength team they steamed in and started the match @ 1.30. It was clear that Wenger was not leaving anything to chance when it came to this match and Arsenal were backed as low as 1.08 in the To Qualify market before the match got underway. After all this was a team from League 2 playing against one of the top sides in the Premier League.

In the end it still never worked out for them as they were beaten on penalties.

Some would say Arsenal were lucky to take the match as far as the shoot-out as it took a late equaliser just to force extra time. Bradford went as low as 1.33 to Qualify in normal time before Arsenal pulled it back and they became the odds-on favourites once again.

Arsenal’s elimination was good news for anyone who had backed Chelsea in the Capital One Cup Winners market. Chelsea were priced @ 3 but they have now steamed into 2.10 to win the trophy without even kicking the ball. A nice low risk trading profit for those who like to speculate.

This is the chart from the To Qualify market for Bradford. Bradford weren’t matched much higher then 10 so this probably wasn’t as big a shock as most are making out…
