Preparing Your Portfolio For The New Season

With the new football season just around the corner, it is time to start preparing a portfolio of services and systems that you will be using in the new season. Having a portfolio is very important in my view as you are spreading your risk and not keeping all your eggs in one basket. The way I see it, you have to be very unlucky for all your systems to be losing money at the same time. By having a good portfolio you will be able to handle the losing runs that most systems will inevitably have.

Just how many systems you operate within your portfolio is probably up to you. However, its crucial you don’t have TOO many services at one time. You should try and find a good balance of profitable services that compliment each other and don’t cause a conflict of interests. For example, a service which focuses on over/under 2.5 goals markets will go well with another service which might focus on laying the draw or one that focuses only on correct score betting etc.

The last thing you want is to end up with systems or services which contradict each other. You could get an email from service 1 which suggests you back Man utd, and then an email from service 2 which suggests you lay Man utd. Then what do you do??

Which systems/services will I be using?

Well I won’t reveal my personal portfolio but I do operate some personally created systems which go well with some of the advice given from some respected services I follow.
Going into the new season, I also have a few new personal systems that I have devised over the summer and that I am excited about trying. Taking on over priced favourites is something that I have done well with in the past year and my research has shown some interesting patterns that I hope will continue going into 2012.  I try not to get too excited about systems that do well in back testing.

Last summer, I thought I had found an Under 2.5 Goals system that was the holy grail! It showed an amazing profit during back testing and also during August and September before crashing and burning during October and November. So that is a reminder that you should always use minimal stakes when trailing any new system or service!

Anything Recommended?

When any new season starts you will always see a new wave of services starting. I will be taking a closer look at some of these on the blog in the coming months to see if there is anything worth checking out.

I have been receiving emails from the Sports Betting Professor. Not sure how he got my email but he seems to be launching a new “Soccer” service for the new season. If his recent systems are anything to go by then this will probably be one to avoid however it’s only fair that we check out the results once it does launch.

Hopefully, from next week you will be able to access Total Football Trading, which is the ebook project I am involved in. There will be ten different strategies in there which makes the whole thing a mini-portfolio on its own. Most notably there are some cool pre-match trading strategies which is something that hardly anywhere else has covered in detail before. Personally, I am hoping to do less in-play trading and more pre-match trading during the new season as it would be nice to simply enjoy football matches like a normal person for a change!

So do some research, see what systems were profitable last season and try and create a shortlist for your new 2011/12 portfolio!
