The Ladbrokes Exchange Is Now OPEN!

Ladbrokes have finally let their exchange go live within the last 24 hours which should mean an interesting time ahead in the betting exchange world.

If you were not aware, the Ladbrokes Exchange is basically the Betdaq exchange under a new skin but this should increase liquidity on that exchange somewhat and hopefully make Betfair think twice about the way they have been treating customers recently.

That is the hope anyway.

ladbrokes exchange now open

My initial impressions were actually mixed.

I was concerned that when I went to login to the normal Ladbrokes website I could not see the “Exchange” option in the tabs. I had to switch to “Beta” mode in order to view it.

Then when I went to that I also saw that Ladbrokes launched a “Vegas” and “Virtuals” option as new recently which makes you wonder if maybe the exchange is just another gimmick for them and if they plan on actually pushing it significantly.

The actual markets seem to have plenty of money in the obvious ones such as Football and Horse Racing but I guess we will have to see how that develops. Whether or not this is a big increase on the usual liquidity from Betdaq is not clear and does not seem like it is to me so far, however we have to give them a bit of time on this part.

A big plus is that the Ladbrokes website feels less “clunky” then Betfair and Betdaq which should make the user experience better. Perhaps, we will not see any system crashing @ 3pm on Saturdays now?

Anyway, it is early days and we will have to see how it all develops!

  1. God knows why they bought Daq cos it wont to the sportsbook any good. And god knows why Betfair started a sportsbook as it wont do the exchange any good. They’re both public companies and are showing the same nonesense logic that most public companies do.
Run by absolute idiots who don’t understand or care about the longterm implications. It will bite them both eventually and there will be tears.

The Ladbrokes website is horrible and the exchange is squished up in the middle of their terrible page layout. Betdaq have a great looking site that rarely to never crashes and they only charge 3% commission versus 5% at Ladbrokes for the same markets and same liquidity.

The Ladbrokes exchange may develop in time, but at the moment it is a joke. No one already using an alternative exchange would switch to there.
