Olympics Trading: Tsonga In Tennis Trading Marathon

Jo Wilfried Tsonga is the fourth favourite to win the Men’s Gold Medal at the Olympics however he is going to have to do some recovering after coming through an epic marathon match against Canadian Raonic.

Tsonga eventually prevailed by winning the final set 25-23. That is Games and not a tie break as you will be forgiven for first thinking!

The 3 set match lasted 4 hours which set a new Olympic record and judging from the Betfair chart the Tennis traders will have been filling their boots on this one. As mentioned yesterday, there will be big opportunities at these games but you have to be in the right place at the right time to capitalise.

Unfortunately for me, I was not in the right place until near the end of the match when my attention was drawn to this bizarre match. I could only look at the chart and imagine what might have been as you can clearly see there was plenty of opportunities to repeat the same trade over and over again with those lines going up, down, up, down and so on…

I observed that every time Raonic held serve Tsonga would drift from 1.60 up to 1.90 for a 30 tick gain. So just winning that trade twice would have put you in a no-loss position and Raonic held serve 23 times which underlines the huge opportunities that tennis trading can deliver. That was a great opportunity in itself, not too mention all the break points that were missed in the late stages also.

Here is the chart below, great match for trading if you caught it!
