Is This The Year For Murray?

Over the next few days we could all be witness to history being made as Andy Murray has a strong chance of becoming the first British player since 1938 to reach the final of Wimbledon and maybe the first winner since Fred Perry in 1936.

You have to feel that if Andy Murray was ever going to reach a Wimbledon Final then this will probably be his best ever chance to do it.

With Rafael Nadal out of the competition, Murray now faces Tsonga in the semi-final. Tsonga is no push over but he is “beatable” when compared to the likes of Nadal. You have to assume there will be no such slip up from Nadal at next years Wimbledon so Murray really needs to take this opportunity by the throat.

He is priced @ 1.50 to beat the Frenchman who he holds a strong record against of 5-1. On paper Murray should have enough to win this match but the main thing that will be on everyone’s mind is whether Murray can handle the pressure of expectation. For the first time (ever?), Andy Murray is now expected to make the final of Wimbledon and you have to wonder if that will play on the mind of the British number one who has often been accused of lacking the mental strength that the rest of the big 4 have.

Just making the final of Wimbledon will go a long way to silencing the Murray critics. The man is a fantastic tennis player but because he is up against formidable geniuses in Djokovic, Nadal and Federer he often ends up looking as if he is merely average which is a far way from the truth.

The match between Tsonga and Murray could be a swing traders dream with so much at stake. Tsonga has never reached a Wimbledon final before either so you can be sure that there will be a lot of wobbles at crucial moments which is why it is worth reading this article on tennis trading entry points one more time before getting stuck in.

The prize at the end of this match is a place in the final against either Djokovic or Federer and you have to be realistic and feel that the Wimbledon champion is more likely to come from that side of the draw then Murray’s one but there is an awful lot of tennis still to be played and, hopefully, a lot more breaks of serve and match points to be missed too!
