Scalping the under 2.5 market is one of my favourite Betfair Trading Strategies and the match between Manchester United and Rangers last night was a dream for it.
The price for under 2.5 pre-match was 2.38 and I thought this was appealing as I expected Rangers to literally park the bus and with Manchester United putting out a virtual reserve team I didn’t expect them to start too strong. I still expected them to win so the final score of 0-0 was a slight surprise but I had already made my profit by half time.
As you can see from the screen shot I made this profit using the Bet Angel trading software which I really recommend if you want to take your sports trading seriously. I would never attempt to scalp a match without it.
My scalping strategy normally involves simply trying to get in and out nicking a tick or two whenever the play is a bit more relaxed. It is often a risky method and if the game is being played a higher tempo then I feel comfortable with I will normally bail out and wait for a more ideal match.
Last nights match was great as Manchester United were really off the pace and with Rangers taking their time with almost every dead ball they had there was plenty of time to get in and out of the market before play had even resumed sometimes.
If you are using Bet Angel to scalp I would recommend you use the one-tick offsetting feature whereby as soon your back order is filled it automatically fires the lay order into the market. Sometimes you get lucky and that order is filled instantly!
That match was definitely one of the more easier ones to scalp but let me remind people that you ALWAYS need the match to be live on TV before you even consider this type of scalping. Trying to scalp a market without pictures is the fastest route to the poorhouse!
